Purchasing Officer

Key Result Areas:

  • Purchase or contract supplies, services, and equipment required by any department within the limits of the current budget and in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
  • Negotiate and recommend execution of contracts for the purchase of supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Procure the necessary quality in supplies, services, and equipment at the least expense to the company.
  • Assist the purchasing manager with daily tasks and create weekly, monthly, and annual reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of goods import rules.
  • Familiarity with the local market.
  • Cost-saving skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Team management skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure.

Key Competencies:

  • Negotiating and agreeing to contracts, monitoring their progress, and checking the quality of services provided.
  • Processing payments and invoices.
  • Keeping contract files and using them as a reference for the future.
  • Producing reports and statistics using computer software.
  • Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
  • Attending meetings and trade conferences.
