As an HSE Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the implementation and adherence to stringent health and safety standards across our infrastructure and road works projects in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience, a strong background in OSHAD, NEBOSH IGC or above certification, and ISO-45001 Lead Auditor qualification. Experience in the Abu Dhabi market and a consultant background are mandatory for this role.

Your new role, what’s involved?

We are seeking a highly experienced HSE Inspector to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of recent experience working with construction consultants on utilities projects in Abu Dhabi and must be well-versed with OSHAD (Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health System Framework). The HSE Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld across all project sites, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of project sites to ensure compliance with OSHAD and other relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate them.
  • Ensure all project activities adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents.
  • Ensure timely reporting of incidents to relevant authorities and stakeholders.

Training and Awareness:

  • Conduct safety training sessions and toolbox talks for project staff and contractors to promote safety awareness.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on specific safety topics, ensuring compliance with OSHAD requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, and disseminate this information to project teams.

Safety Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and incident reports.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is accessible and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit regular safety performance reports to project managers and stakeholders.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure safety requirements are integrated into project plans and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders to promote a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide updates on safety performance and address any safety concerns.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience as an HSE Inspector with construction consultants on utilities projects in Abu Dhabi.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHAD and other relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in Abu Dhabi.
  • Proven track record of effectively implementing and managing safety programs on construction sites.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct training sessions and communicate safety requirements to diverse project teams.
  • Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
